depot of works of Ronald B. Escanlar
I am an undergraduate of several universities — began as a BS Computer Engineering student in UP Diliman, then shifted to BS Community Development, then transferred to Jose Rizal College to take up AB English, then transferred again to Trinity College of Quezon City, enrolling in, what else — AB English.
Dabbling in journalism, I worked as a features writer for the Manila Bulletin and as a correspondent with the Manila Times. I then worked as a junior editor for NewsLink, a daily electronic newspaper for ocean-going vessels, then became chief editor of a short-lived magazine. My last journalism stint was as a reporter for Bulatlat.com.
I am a victim of two very violent events. The first one occurred on October 26, 2000, when I was shot at point-blank range by a snatcher while onboard a jeepney infront of Luneta. On April 7, 2005, while covering a peaceful protest rally infront of the Malate Church, I was bludgeoned on the head by riot police during the dispersal.
